The Woerman Lab is looking for a summer undergraduate student to work as a lab assistant and research assistant. The lab assistant responsibilities include: 1) washing and autoclaving glassware, 2) preparing cell culture media, buffers, and solutions, 3) autoclaving biological waste, 4) making and pouring bacterial media plates using aseptic technique, 5) assist in ordering lab reagents and supplies, as well as maintaining lab inventory, 6) de-frosting the freezer, 7( maintaining chemical inventory and eye wash testing, and 8) help with scoring and maintaining records for in vivo experiments. The research assistant responsibilities will vary as the project involves, but will require working with a graduate student to investigate the route and rate of protein transport in the axon using microscopy and image analysis. The student must be able to communicate effectively and follow directions, both written and verbal. 

Experience is not necessary; the Woerman lab will provide training. Priority will be given to applicants eligible for work-study, but work-study is not a requirement for consideration. This position will pay $15/hour for up to 30 hours/week. There is 1 position open, with the latest start date of June 3, 2024. Initial employment will be for the summer with the possibility of extending into the fall and spring semesters based on satisfactory performance.
