The Student Disability Center Accessible Text area is looking for hard working, detail oriented, tech savy individuals to join our team! This position is designed to support the Coordinator of Accessible Text Accommodation in the conversion process of 200+ books into accessible formats for students with disabilities. For this position we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and able to juggle multiple tasks at once as this is a self-paced job that requires a timely turnaround. This position also requires monthly student staff trainings including the week before school starts to get started on the right foot. Job duties/Responsibilities:

  • Separate and scan physical textbooks into a digital format
  • Edit and convert documents to ensure they are readable by Assistive Technology
  • This position requires working with various computer software programs such as: Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, TextAloud, OmniPage Ultimate, ThoriumReader, Read&Write
  • Attend development opportunities centered around diversity, equity, and inclusion including (but not limited to) monthly student staff professional development trainings

 

Required skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to critically evaluate and solve problems
  • Reliability, accuracy, excellent communication, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Any experience in writing Alt Text

 

You must have work-study, be self-motivated, and have careful attention to detail!

 

*Position is flexible in terms of remote versus in person work. During a typical semester, work would be completed mostly in-person.

 

Work-study Only Position: This is a work-study position; applicant must be eligible for work-study to apply and attach a screenshot of their work study award.

Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00
