Historic House Museum Intern

Internship Title: Historic House Museum Internship - Fall 2024

Internship Location:  Center for Colorado Women’s History, Denver, CO

Stipend: $2,000. The stipend is not salary or compensation. The stipend is meant to support study and research during the tenure of the appointment and will be issued upon completion of the internship. 

Qualified candidates may receive academic credit through their college or university. *Check with your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.

Desired Schedule:  10 - 15 hours/week for a total of 150 hours, September - December, 2024.

Broad Scope of Position: The Center for Colorado Women’s History focuses on scholarship, research, lectures, tours and exhibits that expand the understanding and collective memory of the history of women in Colorado. The Historic House Museum Intern will work with a professional staff and volunteers to gain a background in museum studies, make connections for future employment, and practice leadership skills. The intern will receive an introduction to all aspects of history museum operations, including guest services, education programming, special events, curatorial services, archive research, exhibit production, and community engagement.

Outcomes: This internship will provide a wide variety of hands-on experiences within a historic house museum and see many aspects of museum work.  The student will have the opportunity to work with staff and volunteers with different approaches and experiences.  They will also get to be a part of some of the experimentation and learning that happens within a museum. 

Desired Skills & Academic Field of Study: Current High School Juniors or Seniors and Undergraduate and Graduate Students in all fields of study are welcome. 

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Google Suite
  • Basic computer and internet literacy
  • Verbal and written communication skills
