Engineering student ambassadors provide personalized tours to WSCOE stakeholders, including college prospects and their guests, industry partners, high school educators, and others. Tours are tailored to the needs of each individual or group. Ambassadors should be able to speak and communicate effectively about their CSU engineering discipline and learn to communicate about other engineering majors and minors. They should also be able to share information about engineering research projects, clubs and organizations, computing resources, their own college search, and their experiences as a CSU student.
As part of the student recruitment team, ambassadors need strong writing skills as they regularly craft emails and may be assigned other writing projects.
Students in this position will assist in outreach to prospective students through phone calls, postcards and text campaigns. Most important is the motivation to learn and collaborate with peers.
Student ambassadors work at recruitment events both on- and off- campus. The tasks at events vary greatly, from set up to lead communication roles and public speaking. Students represent the College at events and may be asked to make presentations for groups of all sizes.
