ENvision Engineering Summer Program Mentors
ENvision Engineering Summer Program Mentors will help in the organization, preparation, and facilitation of summer engineering programs run through the Walter Scott Jr., College of Engineering.
Tuesday May 20th, 2025 – Wednesday May 21st, 2025: Mandatory Training - Alliance
Tuesday May 27th, 2025- Thursday May 29th, 2025: Mandatory Training
Saturday May 31st, 2025 – Friday June 6th, 2025: ENvision Summer Program
ENvision Program Description (Age 16- 18): The ENvision Engineering Summer Program is a collaboration with Campos Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, LLC (Campos EPC, LLC) and hosted in-person at Colorado State University (CSU). A seven-day overnight residential program for rising high school juniors and seniors in the state of Colorado. Participants partake in hands-on engineering learning sessions led by current students & faculty of the Walter Scott Jr. College of Engineering while also exploring life as an engineering student at Colorado State University. Students will be assigned to mentors who will assist in various capacities such as leading team building, building community within cohorts, guiding participants around campus, and facilitating workshops around engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Attend all scheduled trainings for program preparation from Tuesday May 20th – Wednesday 21st & Tuesday May 27th – May 29th 2025
- Attend the full subsequent program; Flexible scheduling offered for summer class schedule.
- Program sessions will be hosted by mentors, community members and CSU faculty. Mentors may be called on by other session facilitators to assist or help students navigate activities.
- Mentors will lead small and large group discussions among mentees that incorporate academic and social content.
- Attend meetings after program sessions with peers to ensure that mentors and students are all contributing to community care.
- Follow CSU’s protection of minor’s policy by staying in residence hall overnight with participants (lodging and meals provided during ENvision Summer Program). Mentors must stay on-campus in the residence hall the week of the ENvision Summer Program.
- CPR & First Aid Training will be provided to all staff
Requirements:
- 2.5 or above GPA
- Priority given to WSCOE Undergraduate Major; open to all STEM majors
- Preferred Upperclassman – Post undergraduates
- Preferred valid drivers license
- Interest in working with historically excluded populations.
- Initiative to facilitate small group discussion with high school & middle school student mentees in small groups.
- Availability to fully participate in training and program dates.
- Some experience with working in previous mentorship positions
- Some experience in working in education outreach with K-12 school programs.
- Commitment to inclusive excellence and willingness to work towards providing inclusive spaces.
- Willingness to assist and facilitate academic and social interaction sessions.
