KCSU-FM Program Director (Work-Study)

The mission of KCSU is to teach students to collaboratively operate a radio station that offers audio & multi-media education by providing hands-on learning experiences that amplify student voices to create content informing and inspiring our listeners.



 

KCSU is looking for students interested in learning by doing and gaining knowledge through experience. Interested applicants are not expected to know everything about journalism, broadcasting or radio equipment.  

 

Programming Director Overview: The Program Director oversees all programming at KCSU, focusing on our broadcast content. Together with the Station Manager, the Program Director works to build a broadcast schedule aimed at KCSU’s audience while holding true to the KCSU mission statement. 

The Program Director is ultimately responsible for all DJ and volunteer attendance, training and performance. They will ensure quality programming for the station and assist the Station Manager in managing departments they oversee, which includes Music, Local, Sports, and News. Programming is also able to give disciplinary action as needed.

 

All KCSU positions pay $15 an hour. It is anticipated hours for this position will fluctuate. 

  • The Program Director works 18 hours a week for the 2025-26 academic year
  • All KCSU staff positions must either be a CSU, Front Range, or local high school/college student enrolled for at least one credit hour.

 

Supervision given and received: The Program Director reports directly to the Station Manager and is advised by the General Manager. Programming supervises Music, News, Local, Sports, and Volunteers. 

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Quick response time to assist staff and volunteers.
  • Good communication and friendly/welcoming demeanor.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about the equipment the station uses, both in day-to-day broadcast and special events.
  • Prior knowledge, awareness, experience, or willingness to learn how to handle workplace conflict, schedules and professionalism.
  • Understanding good time management and priority goal setting skills.

90.5 KCSU-FM Program Director Application

Instructions: Email a PDF of your completed application packet to asher.korn@colostate.edu by 5pm February 28th.  In your email, please include all the times you are available for a 1 hour interview between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. March 3rd – 7th.
