The mission of KCSU is to teach students to collaboratively operate a radio station that offers audio & multi-media education by providing hands-on learning experiences that amplify student voices to create content informing and inspiring our listeners.
KCSU is looking for students interested in learning by doing and gaining knowledge through experience. Interested applicants are not expected to know everything about radio or fundraising.
Development Director Position Overview: The KCSU Development Director oversees all donation funding to KCSU, and the relationship management involved in maintaining excellent donor relations.
KCSU is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization tasked with generating about half its income. The Development Director is expected to help facilitate this by corresponding regularly with KCSU donors/alumni, curating and maintaining good relationships with local (supportive) businesses, and directly overseeing the big semesterly (weeklong) fundraiser called “DJ-Athon”.
- This fundraiser happens during Week 12 every semester and involves tracking donations, ensuring on-air recognition, and gift fulfillment for all donors.
All KCSU positions pay $15 an hour. It is anticipated hours for this position will fluctuate, especially during active fundraising weeks.
- The Development Director works 7 hours a week for the 2025-26 academic year
- All KCSU staff positions must either be a CSU, Front Range, or local high school/college student enrolled for at least one credit hour.
Supervision given and received: The Development Director reports to the KCSU General Manager and RMSMC CEO.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Fundraising knowledge, experience, or a deep desire to learn
- Maintaining Corporate Relationships regarding outside/entity business collaborations (i.e. trade deals, grant writing, etc.)
- Willingness to apply for grants to secure extra funding to increase the success of KCSU events.
- Basic understanding of organized record keeping
- Knowledge or willingness to get educated on broadcast language regulations.
