AI in Medical Imaging and Data Science Intern
Overview
PONS (https://www.ponstech.co/ , located in Newark, NJ) is seeking to hire two highly motivated interns for the summer term to contribute to cutting-edge projects in medical imaging and AI-driven ultrasound analysis. These internships will provide hands-on experience in the development and deployment of state-of-the-art AI techniques for improving ultrasound imaging and early-stage disease monitoring. Interns will gain valuable insights into the application of AI in healthcare, including data augmentation, segmentation, and synthetic data generation, while working alongside an experienced team in a collaborative environment.
Internship 1: AI in Medical Imaging
Responsibilities and Projects:
- Develop medical image segmentation methods for identifying various anatomies (e.g., tumors, heart, liver) from ultrasound data.
- Research, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art AI methods to enhance ultrasound image quality.
- Create new data augmentation techniques to increase the size and diversity of ultrasound datasets by generating realistic synthetic ultrasound images.
- Perform manual image segmentation using tools such as 3D Slicer.
- Learn to interpret and analyze ultrasound data effectively.
- Collaborate with the PONS AI team by attending weekly team meetings and contributing to discussions on AI advancements and their application in ultrasound imaging.
- Gain hands-on experience with PONS ultrasound data and the integration of AI methods into the PONS platform.
Skills and Requirements:
- Desired Majors: Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, image processing, and computer vision techniques.
- Strong understanding of AI methodologies and a keen interest in medical imaging applications.
Logistics:
- The intern will be required to work in-person at PONS offices in Newark, NJ three days a week.
Internship 2: AI and Data Science in Ultrasound Imaging
Responsibilities and Projects:
- Assist in improving ultrasound data quality using advanced AI and image enhancement techniques.
- Develop innovative algorithms to interpret and visualize ultrasound data, enabling better clinical insights.
- Participate in building scalable solutions for integrating AI methods into the PONS platform for early-stage disease detection and risk assessment.
- Contribute to the creation of synthetic datasets and evaluate the effectiveness of data augmentation techniques.
- Collaborate with team members to validate AI methods, ensuring they meet industry standards and clinical requirements.
- Prepare and present findings to the AI team during weekly meetings, fostering a dynamic learning and feedback environment.
