LSC Governing Board 2025-2026 - Marketing Director

Marketing Director (Undergraduates) Position Description (3-4 hours per week):

The mission of the  Lory Student Center (LSC) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the Lory Student Center is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve about 24,000 people (about the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden) entering the facility daily and hosts about 13,000 annual events and meetings.  

Position Summary: 

The work of LSC staff members is guided by and in alignment with CSU’s Principles of Community, the Division of Student Affairs Values, and the LSC Mission. The Student Coordinator has an abiding commitment to and active promotion of an equitable and inclusive environment, and the development and enhancement of collaborative relationships. This position actively participates in personal and professional training centering on diversity, equity, and inclusion awareness, behaviors, skills, and competencies that facilitate personal and professional growth and development.  

Minimum qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to CSU’s Principles of Community, Division of Student Affairs Values, and the Lory Student Center Mission
  • Current fee-paying student

Preferred qualifications:

  • Evidence of being dependable, motivated, flexible, and taking initiative as demonstrated by personal experiences and/or previous employment.
  • Event planning experience, small and/or large scale
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team member
  • Proficient problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Duties

  • Work to create intentional relationships across the LSC to seek opportunities for collaboration.
  • Foster an organizational culture which embraces the Principles of Community, including inclusion, integrity, respect, service, and social justice.
  • Embrace and apply the tenets of a team model with colleagues and peers to sustain an inclusive work environment that fosters a culture of belonging in support of multiple and intersecting identities.
  • Collaborate with LSC partners to plan annual events such as: Ramapolooza (Campus Activities), Plaza Activation (Campus Activities, RamEvents, Event Planning Services), Final’s Week Fuel Up (Executive Director’s Office), SHAPE (LSC HR Team), LSC Birthday Celebration (Executive Director’s Office, Marketing), LSC Graduate Celebration (interdepartmental committee), Employee Appreciation Events (interdepartmental committee)
  • Present monthly at ASCSU Senate meetings during “Gallery Input” on LSC happenings.
  • Meet regularly with the Lory Student Center Marketing department to coordinate promotional activities and recruitment of undergraduate members for the Lory Student Center Governing Board.
  • Meet regularly with the Lory Student Center Talent Development team to assist with orientations, training workshops, etc.
  • Manage the Lory Student Center Governing Board website and RamLink page.
  • Assemble proposals for public relations items, with assistance from LSC Marketing.
  • Assemble proposals for the Lory Student Center Governing Board’s other marketing items.
  • Present a monthly report to the Lory Student Center Governing Board.
  • Submit an annual written report of the Marketing Director’s work to the Lory Student Center Governing Board.
