STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER:
The College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) Student Success Team (SST) serves all prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students. The SST serves a critical function modeling a continuum of care, from recruitment to placement and all steps along a student’s CSU journey. The SST is comprised of the CAS Manager of Student Recruitment, CAS Manager of Student Life, CAS Career Education Manager, CAS Assistant Dean for Teaching Practice and Academic Programs, and the CAS Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Student Success.
The goals for the Student Success Team are as follows:
- Students who engage with the SST will know that the team is a supportive, inclusive unit dedicated to student support.
- The SST supports students in both their academic success and holistic wellbeing.
- Students working with the SST will gain valuable career skills.
- The SST efforts will positively advance the CAS brand.
RECRUITMENT AND STUDENT SUCCESS STUDENT COORDINATOR JOB SUMMARY
As the “face” of CAS, our Recruitment and Student Success Ambassadors (RSSA) represent the office's vision through exceptional guest/student experiences both in and out of the office. In addition to job duties held by all Recruitment and Student Success Ambassadors, Student Coordinators will be responsible for:
- Planning programming and training for the SST recruitment ambassador team
- Planning and management of reoccurring team staff meetings
- Working directly with the Recruitment Coordinator to implement tour performance evaluations
- Creating a welcoming community for the ambassador team inside and outside of regular meetings and group events
- Attending one-on-one meetings with the Manager of Student Recruitment
- Leading by example for the ambassador team and helping to provide constructive feedback to ambassadors as needed
- Helping to make decisions regarding the ambassador team with guidance from the Manager of Student Recruitment and/or other Student Success Team Professional Staff members
- Holding weekly drop-in hours in order to complete tasks and act as a resource for the SST recruitment ambassadors
- Serving as a liaison between team members and professional staff members when needed
- Assisting Manager of Student Recruitment in planning and maintaining campus visits
- Creating and maintaining necessary team communications
- Providing input in the ambassador hiring process
- Maintaining resources for ambassadors to assist in positive job performance
- Completing other duties as seen fit when discussed with Manager of Student Recruitment
- Performing data entry and retrieval for Student Success and Recruitment tasks via Slate and Ariesweb
- Managing email, phone, and text communication efforts in conjunction with Manager of Student Recruitment
- Assisting in logistics and planning for off-campus events and travel
- Coordinating on-campus event shifts (both volunteer and paid) with Student Success team and other college partners
- Serve as contact point for shift changes, conflicts, and absences for RSSA team
Salary: $16.00/hour (Work study is encouraged, but not required.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current CSU Student in the College of Agricultural Sciences
- Current member of Recruitment and Student Success Ambassador team
- Must be able to support the Student Success Center’s vision and goals
- Have at least one semester of experience working on RSSA team
- Ability to balance relationships on SST recruitment ambassador team while maintaining a higher level of professionalism
- Ability to hold peers accountable
- Strong organizational and customer/guest service skills
- Be skilled at working autonomously and as a team member
- Be dependable, motivated, flexible, and have strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills necessary, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- A demonstrated commitment to a welcoming and open-minded work environment and a willingness to grow
- Ability to contribute varied and thoughtful perspectives in the workplace
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Able to make a minimum one-year commitment to the position beginning the week before the Fall 2024 semester begins
- Maintain weekly responsibilities of an average of 10 hours/week, 5 hour minimum
- Attend biweekly staff meetings and weekly meeting with Manager of Student Recruitment
- Attend Student Success Team Retreats/Trainings the week before classes start each semester
