Student Assistant for ClayPaws Processing

The Argus Institute at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is seeking a student to assist us in processing ClayPaws™  

 

These special keepsakes are made for clients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital who have said goodbye to a beloved pet. They are clay imprints of the pet’s paw or hoof.  The medical teams typically create these clay imprints, and this position cleans, decorates, and bakes the clay paws and then prepares the item/s for shipping.  This is a work-study position; the applicant must be eligible for work-study to apply.  Pre-vet and veterinary students are encouraged to apply.   

 

The Argus Institute is a program within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital that provides on-site compassionate support for clients facing difficult decisions regarding their pet's healthcare, As part of the remembrance for a pet, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital offers ClayPaws™ to our clientele.  

 

One position is available, the start date is flexible, but as soon as possible. 

 

Hours: 10-15 hours/week, preferably 2 hours/day. The schedule is flexible around the changes in semesters and must be Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with each semester set in advance.  Ideally, we would like a candidate who is available in the summer and during breaks with some flexibility in this area. 

 

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:  

 

Strong attention to detail  

Strong organizational and time management skills 

Capacity to maintain a tidy work environment.  

Strong ability to work independently and as a team member.  

Strong appreciation for the Human-Animal Bond  

Desire to work in a professional veterinary environment.  

 

 

Job Duties:  

 

• Prepare, decorate, bake, log, and mail ClayPaws™ (C) 

• Maintain inventory list, stock, and prepare materials needed for mailing ClayPaws™ (PA) 

• Data entry (DP) 

• Filing, copying, and scanning as needed for the office (PA) 

• Assistance at unique events such as our annual Pet memorial and bi-annual dedication events (TT)
