The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking laboratory assistants to help with the recruiting and retention activities and events and staffing the ECE CreatorSpace. The successful candidate must also be able to work both individually and with others on their team. To excel in this role, you must be self-motivated, be able to multi-task, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be enthusiastic about ECE!

The position will run from August 25, 2025 to the end of the fall 2025 semester with the possibility of the assignment being extended pending good performance and department needs. The student is expected to work 10-15 hours per week and must be available on a flexible schedule while successfully balancing duties and academic requirements. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Development and Delivery of Educative Learning and Teaching Modules:  (45% of the time) V/WC, C, CT/PS, DP
    • Students are expected to fully design, build and document Educative Modules that will demonstrate the core concepts learned as a student in our program.  This is an opportunity to apply the theory learned in coursework to real-life applications based on student’s interests and skill level. 
  • Attend Recruiting Events: (10% of time) PA, L, TW
    • Must be available for recruiting events.  Dates will be pre-selected with sufficient notice.  Transportation will be provided.
    • Be comfortable with demonstrating the modules that you build for small to large audiences ranging from 6 – 18 years old. 
    • Supervise small workshops for students interested in ECE.
  • Hosting Tours for Prospective Students (5% of time) V/WC, PA
    • Be available for hosting tour requests as they come in
  • Restocking/Replacing/Maintaining Lab and Lab Equipment: (40% of time) DP
    • Restock lab materials as necessary
    • Maintain lab equipment (fixing/replacing)

Position Minimum Requirements

  • Registered CSU student enrolled in the Walter Scott Jr. College of Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Electrical and/or Computer Engineering concepts
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with programming (any language)
  • Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and similar development boards
  • CAD/EDA experience (i.e., Solidworks, Cadence)

 

Hourly Pay Rate : $15-17
