Laboratory support and research assistant
The Osborne Nishimura lab is seeking a laboratory support and research assistant to help with critical lab operations. Job duties include assisting on a research project with an in lab mentor, preparing media and plates to grow C. elegans and bacteria, keeping reagents stocked, lab chores such as dishes and waste disposal, and assisting with worm maintenance tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Previous Experience with research in a molecular biology laboratory.
- Must be an undergraduate at Colorado State University.
- Interest in biology/biochemistry.
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff, postdocs, students, administration, and the public with tact, discretion, and appropriate judgment.
- Ability to organize time and work effectively to keep lab operations running smoothly, recognizing that this is a difficult skill to learn and will likely involve troubleshooting and feedback.
- Ability to keep accurate lab notebooks
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Punctuality, dependability, and consistency.
- Willingness to learn and grow, admit mistakes, and ask for help when you need it.
Preferred but not required Majors
Biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field.
