Manufacturing Engineer Intern

Advantest Test Solutions, Inc. (ATS) is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our team in Lake Forest, CA.  ATS is a leading provider of massively parallel electronic test systems that includes System Level Test (SLT), burn in and semiconductor/module tests.  ATS has an exciting line of high-performance test systems that support the semiconductor industry around the world.  This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned engineer with a diverse skill set to work within several engineering disciplines.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, hands on and logical to work successfully in a stimulating manufacturing environment.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Work with R&D and Manufacturing teams with the introduction of new products or the transfer of existing products into our existing manufacturing footprint
  • Work closely with the hardware/software design teams; oversee product build-related tasks during the planning, development, and validation stages of the project
  • Engage design engineers and manufacturing team from design and prototype development through product launch to ensure schedule, quality, and cost objectives are met
  • Help coordinate activities relating to Contract Manufacturer's and Operations extended teams to meet both engineering prototype and product launch commitments
  • Engage with Contract Manufacturers’ technical staff to develop efficient manufacturing processes, strategies, and help oversee implementation
  • Participates in programs aimed at reducing production cycle-times, manufacturing defects and product costs
  • Participates in the product ECN/ECO process and address all Manufacturing or NPI engineering relevant issues
  • Assist with determining process requirements for new products & measure product performance to those requirements
  • Assist Contract Manufacturer’s in development and release manufacturing work instructions
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness
  • Some travel (locally) may be required
  • All other duties as assigned

 

 

 

Qualifications / Requirements 

  • BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including assembly and test
  • Understanding of board level manufacturing and assembly (PCB/PCA)
  • Knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Some knowledge of quality systems and/or methodologies and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical components
  • Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with PCB layout and schematic capture tools is desired
  • Familiarity with CAD programs (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) is desired
  • Customer-centric with a passion for excellence
  • Knowledge of pneumatic piping and fittings, and pipe insulation would be useful
  • This is an on-site role in our Lake Forest, CA office
