Technical operations

May - August 2023 • Ashland, OH

What I liked

I learned a lot about the biopharmaceutical discovery process and got to see a lot of very cool procedures related to drug safety testing. I also got experience with SOPs, GLPs, and real lab protocols.

What I wish was different

The job description online did not accurately reflect what interns did on an everyday basis. Interns were also very limited in what we could do (reasonably) but it lead to very repetitive days.

Advice

Laboratory animal care is not easy emotionally or physically so be prepared to be pushed in ways you may not have expected. With that being said, crl will not make you do anything you are not comfortable with.

Animal Food Enrichment Intern

July - September 2019 • Mattawan, MI

What I liked

Work environment was excellent, and overall a great experience

What I wish was different

More interaction with other departments would have been excellent, but I was satisfied with what interactions I had nevertheless

Advice

Just because the job you initially sign up for doesn't sound all that glorious, it doesn't mean that what it turns out to be isn't a fun and exciting experience to have over your summer break.

Immunotoxicology Intern

May - August 2019 • Ashland, OH

What I liked

Great company to be a part of. They have many options for interns and the company culture is great. From the first day you are enrolled in benefits like a 401k match and other perks.

What I wish was different

There is nothing that I would have changed.

Advice

Take the time to get to know the people in the department. They are great connections to have, but more importantly, they are just enjoyable to be around.
